CMS Overhaul
The very first version of the Update Wizard was developed to provide a simple method for website owners to update news, events and photo gallery. In five years the system has now developed into a comprehensive yet user-friendly CMS.
After listening to the needs of clients, last year the system was re-engineered - virtually from scratch. The Update Wizard II has now been released and offers an even friendlier user interface, more flexibility and added functionality.
A simple text-editor offers basic font styling including header styles, bullet lists, tables and hyperlinking.
Multiple images and PDFs can be uploaded for each database item. Images are automatically resized during the upload process - they can also be branded with your logo (optional). The system generates a small thumbnail version (cropped to size) and an enlargement (resized to best fit based set maximums).
One of the most notable modifications is improved search engine optimisation. It's rather complex to explain each strategy (and I may be revealing some trade secrets if I try), but one notible feature is "seo-friendly" page navigation. In simple terms, the path the each page uses common terms which (preferably) relate to the products or services offers. For example...
Database URL: "www.websharp.com.au/default.asp?idset=3&idcategory=2&iditem=33"
SEO-friendly URL: "www.mywebsite.com.au/solutions/website_design.html"
A few other SEO techniques include:
- the sourse code has been trimmed to get search engine spiders to readable content quicker
- text linking [like this] to cross reference content and generate more paths for search engines to follow
- meta content (page title, keywords, description) are initially composed by Web Sharp Designs but can be adjusted via the Update Wizard
All of these combine to provide better results for businesses when using Google or other common search engines.
